Install Ashford Connect on Windows
Ashford Connect is an independent desktop connector that lets compatible AI assistants work with files on your computer, within permissions you control. It is not a Google, Microsoft, OpenAI or Anthropic installer.
Before you install
You need Windows x64, an internet connection, and an Ashford Connect account. Installation is for your Windows account and does not require administrator access. The command below downloads the Ashford Connect helper from this website and starts its setup. The default working folder is C:\Ashford_connect. Choose folder-only access with commands off, or explicitly approve full computer file access and commands during setup. Full access uses your Windows account permissions; it does not grant administrator privileges or screen/mouse control.
Easy installation — Windows
- Press Windows key + R, type cmd, then press Enter.
- Paste this command into the window, then press Enter:
curl -fLo "%TEMP%\ashford.exe" https://connect.ashford.cloud/get && "%TEMP%\ashford.exe" install
- When asked for a pairing code, open your dashboard, copy the current code, paste it into the window, then press Enter. Codes are private, one-time, and expire after ten minutes. The dashboard refreshes an expired or used code while it is open.
- Return to your dashboard and refresh. Your computer becomes active when pairing finishes. Use Pause to stop access whenever you want.
Understanding the prompts
Workspace folder: press Enter to accept the displayed folder, or type another full folder path and press Enter. Confirmation: type yes or no, then press Enter. YES, Yes and yes all work. An invalid answer asks again. Pairing code: paste only the code shown in your own signed-in dashboard, then press Enter.
Updates
The helper checks for a new release and displays a notice when one is available. Finish your work, close Ashford Connect, and open it again. At startup, type yes or no at the update prompt and press Enter. The helper verifies the release signature and download before updating. Pairing, workspace and permissions are kept. Choosing no continues with the current version.
Troubleshooting
No computer in the dashboard? Setup may still be waiting for input. Read the last line in the command window. Press Enter after entering each answer. Refresh the dashboard after pairing. Code expired or already used? Copy the new code from the dashboard and retry pairing. Already paired? Open Ashford Connect from the desktop or Start menu shortcut. Browser or Windows security warning? Stop installation and report the exact message. Do not disable security protections.
Control access
Close the helper window to stop its connection. Use machine settings in the dashboard to pause access or disconnect the computer. Disconnecting revokes the connection; it does not delete your workspace files. Reconnecting requires pairing again.
